Joseph Drouhin Musigny Grand Cru 2022

Joseph Drouhin is one of the most important wine producers in Burgundy and produces a range of village and regional wines. The grapes for these come from winegrowers in the region as well as from the estate's own vineyards. Domaine Joseph Drouhin produces several Grand Cru wines in the Côte d'Or and in Chablis, including wines from Musigny, Corton-Charlemagne and the Marquis de Laguiche Montrachet Grand Cru, one of the largest shares of the entire Montrachet hill.

Quintessential Pinot Noir, it is not for nothing that they say that the commune of Chambolle Musigny produces the most feminine and softest wines, and it is true. Very elegant nose with subtle red fruits, wild cherry, violet, red rose, some floral notes, but also a slight sweetness coming from the oak. silky and velvety, so light on its feet, but with a lot of power.

The prices of Joseph Drouhin wines have risen considerably in recent years, which has caused plenty of controversy. It is said that many wines are overpriced and this may be the case with some wines but in this case it is a Musigny that is really first class and has nothing to hide from its neighbours.

It's better, of course, to let the wines mature for a few years, but I'm pleased that the trend in recent years has been to make wines that don't need an eternity to be enjoyable.
