Joseph Drouhin is one of the most important wine producers in Burgundy and produces a range of village and regional wines. The grapes for these come from winegrowers in the region as well as from the estate's own vineyards. Domaine Joseph Drouhin produces several Grand Cru wines in the Côte d'Or and in Chablis, including wines from Musigny, Corton-Charlemagne and the Marquis de Laguiche Montrachet Grand Cru, one of the largest shares of the entire Montrachet hill.
And that's exactly the Montrachet we're going to talk about
The quintessence of Chardonnay from Burgundy, the best vineyard ever, producing a very elegant and delicate wine. I have often had the experience with this wine from different vintages that it sometimes does not fulfil expectations when young and in any case needs ageing or sufficient aeration. Patience is rewarded with a delicate fruit of pineapple, melon, ripe yellow apples, vanilla and nutty flavours. Extremely delicate and lively on the palate, silky and soft but you can feel the charge and potential. Do not open under 5 years of bottle maturity.
There is enough supply on the secondary market for more mature vintages and it is worth getting them.
