Clos de Tart is a renowned wine estate located on a single Grand Cru monopoly vineyard in the commune of Morey-Saint-Denis and produces two wines: Clos de Tart and La Forge de Tart. Clos de Tart has always been a monopoly vineyard, previously owned by the Mommessin family, who acquired the estate in 1932. The family sold their vineyard (and the name) to Jean-Claude Boisset of the great Burgundian winegrowing family.
Somewhat reductive at the beginning and needs a few minutes of air and patience, one is rewarded with an explosion of red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry but also juicy red cherry followed by herbal notes that give the whole a freshness, after a few more minutes notes of red rose and wild berries appear. Very concentrated and velvety on the palate with very fine but young tannins. The 2021 vintage is very accessible, but you should give it about half an hour in the carafe to really get to know all sides. An excellent accompaniment to mushroom dishes and various cheese platters. I would suggest a drinking window of 2025-2040. A great second wine and a perfect introduction to the great world of Clos de Tart. Look for more mature vintages because there are plenty of them in various auction houses.
