Domaine Bonneau du Martray is a highly respected wine producer focussing on the production of 2 wines, Corton and Corton Charlemagne both Grand Cru.
For some time now, the Domaine has leased a small part of the Corton-Charlemagne parcel to the world-famous Domaine de la Romanee Conti.
But this is about the Corton 2018.
Due to its exposure to the sun, the Corton hill is actually a wine that is vinified more on the masculine side and with a lot of wood, at least by many other producers. Here, however, it is absolutely the opposite, feather-light, perfumed Pinot Noir that is unrivalled. The bouquet is characterised by delicate raspberry and strawberry aromas, a light touch of chocolate and leather, but also something animal . On the palate it convinces even more with a lot of expression , concentration and a range of flavours that are rarely found thanks to the own yeast strains that are used .
The nice thing about this vintage is that it is already accessible and can be drunk well with a little aeration, but will of course continue to develop for many years to come.
I would estimate the drinking window as follows: 2025-2035
The wines are currently experiencing great demand and prices have more than doubled since 2020 and there is a possibility that they will rise even further, but you can still find a few more mature vintages at good prices.
